Unacceptable Usage Policy

- The mail bombing/flooding to any use of any system.
- Storage or transfer of any material which describes in any detail hacking, cracking or any other techniques which may or may not be intended to be used on any Datec server.
- The storage or transfer of any material which would not be legally available otherwise.
Shell, PP and SLIP Accounts
- The mail bombing/flooding to any user of any system.
- Sending of unsolicited e-mail to any user of any system.
- Multiple logins via dialup on any account type other than a block usage account.
- Flooding any host via ICMP Ping packets or any other means.
- Using 'port scanners' or similar programs from any computer pointing at any other host or network.
- Excessive crossposting into newsgroups. Any user found to be doing this will have their post access to our news server removed. Any fake posting into newsgroups will be dealt with in a similar way.
- Irrelevant posting of articles to a particular newsgroup.
- Use of incorrect real name and e-mail addresses on newsgroup posts.
Web Pages
- No material that is of a nature that is offensive or would be deemed restricted material may be placed on any home page even if a warning is placed previously on the page).
- Illegal software or links to sites containing illegal software (including patches, cracks or keys) is not permitted.
- Where possible we recommend using the JPEG image compression format. This allows faster transfer to remote sites.
- Commercial content is not permitted on personal dialup accounts. This content is only permitted on a Business Account. Any account with commercial web pages which is not a business account may be terminated without warning.
