Vital
Information
If you've ever used
a computer for a long period of time
you've probably had an encounter with
one of these nasty critters. If you
haven't and are wondering what all
the fuss is check out this virus
primer from Trend Micro.
Since no-one is ever completely safe
it's important you take some precautions.
(1) Run an
AntiVirus Program
If you haven't got an good
AV program, stop reading right now
and grab one! We recommend Norton,
Trend
Micro & McAfee
as reliable manufacturers but there
are a few others out there.
(2) Consider
Using a Firewall
While many people know about anti-virus
programs, firewalls are not so common.
A firewall is basically a program
that screens all incoming requests
from the internet to make sure you
only receive things you've asked for.
Windows has a firewall packaged with
it that you can learn
more about here or there
are plenty of third party products
too, we recommend Norton's
Personal Firewall.
